"Almost There" Hints

Tell the customer what is missing to get a discount: "Add $20 worth more products, to get 10% off".

The cart page with an almost-there hint

Setting it up

  1. On the cart price rule, switch on Show an "almost there" hint.
  2. Write Hint text, the ending of the hint, for example "to get 10% off".
  3. If the rule's discount applies only to some products (set in the rule's Actions), fill Product name in the hint (singular) and (plural), for example "tshirt" and "tshirts".

What the customer sees

While the cart does not qualify yet, the cart page and the mini-cart show:

  • "Add $20 worth more products, to get 10% off" (a subtotal condition),
  • "Add 2 more products, to get 5% off" (a quantity condition),
  • "Add one more tshirt, to get 15% off" (the discount applies to tshirts only),
  • or a combination: "Add $66 worth more products and one more tshirt, to get 20% off".

Good to know

  • The hint goes away when the cart qualifies. Use it together with auto-apply, the coupon list or the coupon link, so the customer can use the coupon.
  • At most five hints are shown, in the order of the rules' priorities.
  • Hints are built for conditions on the cart subtotal, the number of items, the weight and the products in the cart. A rule with other conditions (for example a shipping country) shows no hint.
  • The wording of the missing part is in English. The ending is your text.
  • The hints are not shown in the checkout.
